Player Ratings: Manchester United 2-0 Sunderland

David de Gea – Had a fairly quiet afternoon against a woeful Sunderland side. 6/10

Antonio Valencia  – Didn’t have an awful lot of defending to do, but could’ve done better going forward. 5/10

Chris Smalling – Got better as the game went on. Hopefully we’ll see him in the starting line-up more regularly. 6/10

Jonny Evans – Looked nervous on the ball and hurried in possession. Struggled. 4/10

Marcos Rojo – Put in a few dangerous crosses, and did his defensive duties well. Played nicely. 7/10

Daley Blind – Was allowed a lot of time on the ball, and could’ve used it better. Didn’t have a lot of defending to do. 5/10

Ashley Young – Looked a threat throughout. He has really shone under Van Gaal this season. 7/10

Ander Herrera – Wasn’t afraid to run with the ball and keep United moving forward. Needed more help. 6/10

Angel di Maria – Continued his poor form with another shocking display. Looked bereft of confidence throughout, maybe a few games on the bench could help him out. 3/10

Wayne Rooney – Took his goals superbly despite not playing all that well. 7/10

Radamel Falcao – Had a shocking first half, but improved with his final act being his best as he won a penalty. Subbed off at a bizarre time. 5/10

Subs:

Adnan Januzaj – Looked dangerous.

Maroaune Fellaini – Brought an aerial threat to the field of play.

Juan Mata – Kept the ball moving.
