David de Gea – Did well to prevent Daley Blind scoring a bizarre own goal. Largely untested putting that aside. 6/10
Victor Lindelof – Had a better outing this evening. Looked calm and composed, perhaps playing in a back three helped. 6/10
Chris Smalling – Marshalled the back four superbly throughout. He looked good. 7/10
Daley Blind – Didn’t have the best of evenings. He looked shaky on the ball and his defending was wayward. 4/10
Antonio Valencia – The right-wingback role suits him down to a tee. He made some outstanding runs and whipped in some super crosses. 7/10
Nemanja Matic – Already looks right at home in a red shirt. He broke up play, won tackles and threw his weight around. Excellent debut. 8/10
Andreas Pereira – Tried to make that killer pass but more often than not they didn’t come off. Average. 5/10
Paul Pogba – As per usual, he ran the show with great vision and perfect execution. I expect big things from this year. 7/10
Matteo Darmian – Played well and picked up an assist for Mkhitaryan’s opener. 6/10
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Could have had a hat-trick. He played just on Lukaku’s shoulder and the role seemed to suit him. Took his goal well. 7/10
Romelu Lukaku – Every time I watch him, I’m more and more impressed with his all-round game. He’s so good at holding the ball up. 6/10
Subs:
Ander Herrera – Nice to see him get some minutes. He looked lively throughout. 5/10
Michael Carrick – Brought a calmness to the midfield, as well as an excellent range of passing. 6/10
Juan Mata – Found those pockets of space and picked the right ball more often than not. Scored a lovely team goal. 7/10
Marouane Fellaini – Did ok for the most part, however, that bit of cutting edge was lacking. 5/10
Anthony Martial – Drifted in and out of the game. At times, he can be so frustrating to watch, but he can provide moments of brilliance. Just look at his assist from tonight. 6/10
Marcus Rashford – Showed a great turn of pace just as you’d expect. Didn’t really have any chances to threaten the goal though. 5/10
Eric Bailly – It was good to see him on the pitch once again. We’ll miss him in the Super Cup. 6/10
Phil Jones – He’s had a good tour, and that continued this evening with another solid display. 6/10
Axel Tuanzebe – Played as a left-back and to be fair, he looked good. 6/10
Joel Pereira – Nice to see him get more minutes. Largely untested. 6/10
