Patricks Player Ratings: United 2-0 Swansea City

David De Gea: Had very little to do in the game. However he handled what he did have to do with ease. Only long balls and a couple speculative shots to talk about. Distribution once again was fantastic and is becoming one of Manchester United’s strengths to start counter attacks – 8/10

Rafael: Some great link up play, especially in the second half with Valencia, Kagawa and Fletcher. Defended solidly and got forward when possible. Should of had an assist on the counter with Kagawa. Good performance from the Brazilian – 8/10

Chris Smalling: Dealt reasonably well with the power of Wilfred and speed of Routledge and Shelvey. But was caught out of position on a couple of occasions. May have been punished against better opposition. – 5/10

Nemanja Vidic: Again had to deal with the pace and power of Wilfred, and faired particularly well, especially when compared to some recent performances. Commanded well and led by example. – 7/10

Patrice Evra – Was caught out of position on a few occasions as we have come accustomed to with the Frenchman. Could have been punished on another day. As always however, great going forward and some outstanding link up play with Adnan. – 4/10

Antonio Valencia – a poor first half with very little penetration. Improved in the second half and got United’s first. Shown glimpses of his ability down the right wing however can still improve. – 6/10

Michael Carrick: has looked a yard of the pace since coming back from injury and this continued today. Caught in possession a few times however still managed some great passing. – 5/10

Darren Fletcher: Great performance from the Scotsman. Always available to receive the ball and controlled the game on occasions. Great link up play with the likes of Kagawa and Carrick. Shown glimpses of the old Fletcher – 8/10

Adnan Januzaj: started the game of the striker however was fairly ineffective. Was moved to the left wing in the second half and was responsible and involved in much of United’s attacking play. – 7/10

Shinji Kagawa: Man of the match performance from Shinji. Started the game on the left wing however was isolated and ineffective. But Moyes changed things round in the second half and moved Shinji to his favoured number 10 position. He re-paid the managers faith with some great attacking moves and was involved in both goals. Should of grabbed a couple himself. Hopefully Moyes remembers this performance going forward. – 8/10

Danny Welbeck: Had a decent game and grabbed a goal with a great finish. Shown flair and skill which has sometimes been lacking in his game. Hopefully a sign of things to come. Benefited from Shinji Kagawa’s input in the second half. – 7/10

Substitutes:

Alex Buttner: Came on for Evra in the second half and played well. Made some good tackles. Shown some good play going forward as well. May give Moyes something to think about in the next game. – 7/10

Javier Hernandez: came on with little time to influence the game. Picked up a knock as well. N/A
