Player Ratings: Munich 3-1 United

David de Gea – Didn’t really get tested at all in the first half, but couldn’t do anything about the three goals. 5/10

Phil Jones – Despite the odd lapse in concentration, Phil Jones kept Franck Ribery very quiet again tonight. Did well. 7/10

Chris Smalling – Won headers against Manduzkic, marshalled the box very well and never really looked like getting beaten. 6/10

Nemanja Vidic – Again, wasn’t really tested until the second half. Lost Mandzukic as he nodded home Bayern’s equaliser though. 5/10

Patrice Evra – Scored an absolute scorcher to give United the lead, however sadly played some part in all of Bayern’s goals at the other end. 5/10

Michael Carrick – Had another poor game. He struggled to impose himself, and was often caught napping whilst in possession. Very sloppy. 4/10

Darren Fletcher – Didn’t do an awful lot in the first half, but was much improved after the break. Broke up a lot of Bayern’s attacks. 6/10

Shinji Kagawa – Probably our best player. Passed and moved the ball well. Ran into the space and wasn’t afraid to run at Bayern. 7/10

Antonio Valencia – Did ok down the right. Ran at Alaba all night and got his cross in more often than not. Nice pull-back for Evra’s goal. 6/10

Danny Welbeck – Welbeck chased down everything tonight, and his pace is absolutely ridiculous at times. Won the aerial duels more often than not too. Shame he couldn’t grab a goal. 7/10

Wayne Rooney – Didn’t look fit as the game worse on, and should’ve tested Manuel Neuer in the first half. Looked scared to put his foot through the ball, which makes you wonder how sore his toe actually was. 5/10

Subs:

Javier Hernandez – Not enough time to mark.

Adnan Januzaj – Not enough time to mark.
