Sergio Romero – Made a smart save midway through the second half ad followed that up with a reaction-stop to deny Partizan late on. As reliable as ever. 6/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Did well defensively, but I’d like to see him press further up the field in attack. Looked leggy on the hour mark which is understandable given his lack of playing time. Was subbed off. 5/10
Phil Jones – I’m usually at the front of the queue to bash Phil Jones, but he actually did well. Defensively he wasn’t really troubled and he tried to play out from the back a bit, too. 6/10
Harry Maguire – Captained United for the first time and looked thrilled at the privilege. Was beaten too easily on one or two occasions, though. 5/10
Marcos Rojo – Was his usual, rash self at times diving into tackles. Put in a decent performance, though. 5/10
Brandon Williams – Made a sublime run to win the penalty. Always tried to get upfield where possible and was good defensively too. 7/10
Scott McTominay – Pretty much as you’d expect. Worked hard, kept things ticking over and controlled the midfield. 6/10
James Garner – Was finally given the chance to start and played well. His passing was nice and tidy while the young man also made some vital interceptions and tackles. Promising. 6/10
Juan Mata – Put in a typically quiet performance. Still not sure why United handed him a new long-term deal. 4/10
Jesse Lingard – Nice to see him back from injury, but he looked pretty rusty. Will take a few more games to get him back up to speed. 4/10
Anthony Martial – Like Lingard he was pretty quiet but he does head home with a match-winning goal under his belt, albeit from the spot. 6/10
Daniel James – Made some decent runs forward.
Marcus Rashford – Was rather isolated up top. Didn’t really get into the game.
Andreas Pereira – Not enough time to mark.
