Player Ratings: Southampton 0-0 Manchester United – fantastic Romero

Sergio Romero – What a performance. The Argentine dealt everything that came his way and in the end, won us a point. 8/10

Eric Bailly – Filled in at right-back once again and played okay. Would have preferred to see him play more centrally though. 6/10

Phil Jones – Probably slightly better than his partner. Could have just played his way into a Europa League final start. 6/10

Chris Smalling – Positionally, he just didn’t look good. Made some good tackles though. 5/10

Matteo Darmian – Went about his business in a workmanlike manner. Looks a shoe-in to start in the final. 6/10

Axel Tuanzebe – Didn’t look out of place once again. He defended well and played the ball out in an efficient manner. 6/10

Marouane Fellaini – Not horrendous. Won his individual battles and looked sharp. Subbed off with what looked like an injury though. 5/10

Wayne Rooney – Started nicely but was pretty dross from the 20-minute mark onwards. 3/10

Juan Mata – Played some nice passes into the forwards, but lacked that cutting edge. 5/10

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Never got into the game which is a worry. Mourinho would have been looking for a big performance from him, and he didn’t get one. 4/10

Anthony Martial – Quiet for the most part. Made one bursting run and was unlucky to hit the post. Didn’t really do an awful lot to help his case for a start in the final. 5/10

Subs:

Michael Carrick – Added some composure to the midfield.

Marcus Rashford – Brought more pace to the mix and we looked more threatening when he came on.

Ander Herrera – Looked lively.
