Player Ratings: United 1-1 Munich

David de Gea – Kept Robben out with a super save in the first-half. Distributed the ball excellently. Didn’t really have an awful lot to do. 6/10

Phil Jones – Came in at right-back and kept Ribery relatively quiet. Wasn’t afraid to put a tackle in and put his head in where it hurts. Superb. 7/10

Rio Ferdinand – Like the Rio of old. Intercepted the ball, won headers and distributed well. Much improved from last week against City. 8/10

Nemanja Vidic – Captain fantastic. A super header put United in front and his awareness kept Bayern out at the back. Man of the Match. 9/10

Alex Buttner – Defensively very solid. Didn’t shirk a tackle and wasn’t starstruck when coming up against Robben. Could’ve passed it better though. 7/10

Marouane Fellaini – Done a job. Won his fair share of headers but struggled with the ball at his feet. Many questions still remain about the big Belgian’s ability to play football on the ground. 5/10

Michael Carrick – Carrick put in a super shift. He broke play up and started the United counter attack. 7/10

Ryan Giggs – Did well in the first half, but tried that killer pass too often. Subbed at half-time. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Bombed forward at every given opportunity. Helped out Jones when needed and limited Ribery’s attacks. 6/10

Danny Welbeck – Wrongly had a goal chalked off for a high boot, but should’ve scored when one-on-one with Manuel Neuer. Ran his socks off and always offered himself as an outlet. 7/10

Wayne Rooney – Perhaps one of his quieter games in recent weeks. Found himself very deep as the game went on and failed to stamp his authority when going forward. 6/10

Subs:

Shinji Kagawa – Changed the game. It was a super substitution by Moyes and Shinji Kagawa delivered. Kept the ball excellently. 6/10

Ashley Young – Not enough time to mark.

Javier Hernandez – Not enough time to mark.

Felliani won one of 7 headers, and for a game where we didn’t have a great share of the ball, he didn’t tackle once. He is nowhere near the standard of Manchester United, and the sad thing is that he will continue to be a fixture in the team for as long as Moyes is in chatge.
