The first Manchester derby of the season is finally upon us, with the Red Devils heading to The Etihad to take on a Manchester City side who’re feeling buoyant themselves after a 4-1 drubbing of Burnley.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s campaign has been a mixed one thus far. United have been excellent against the bigger sides so that’s a positive. Though we’ve struggled mightily against the teams we should be beating…
Anyway, the Old Trafford faithful will no doubt be looking forward to this one, particularly after we were excellent against Spurs last time out.
Let’s delve right into the Man United starting vs Man City then:
David de Gea will start in between the sticks as per usual and no doubt he’ll have a busy afternoon thanks to Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling ad company.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will start in the right-back slot for this one, with Brandon Williams coming back into the team after some midweek rest. Harry Maguire is always going to start, though I found picking his partner tough. I think Victor Lindelof will continue, albeit I’d personally opt for Axel Tuanzebe.
Scott McTominay was just superb against Spurs and he’ll play here. Fred is improving and he deserves to continue, as does Jesse Lingard who linked up superbly with Marcus Rashford in midweek.
Speaking of the English dynamo, he’ll continue in his newly-preferred left-wing position opposite Daniel James. I’ve gone for Mason Greenwood through the middle as I’m not sure Anthony Martial will be fit to play…
