We’re at that stage in Manchester United’s pre-season where the players are starting to feel close to their best in terms of fitness levels.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now had the chance to gauge the performances of the squad on the whole, and now he’ll start building towards his preferred line-up for the Premier League opener against Chelsea.
What better way to see where the lads are at than a game against Tottenham Hotspur in the International Champions Cup?
For this one, we think Solskjaer will continue to bring the perfect blend of youthful exuberance and first-team experience to the table, and our starting XI for this one comes in the shape of a 4-2-3-1 jam-packed with speed…
Check out our predicted Man United XI vs Spurs here:
In goal, David de Gea will continue as he’s only featured in one game thus far. Eric Bailly has brushed off a knock and I’m intrigued to see how he gets on alongside Axel Tuanzebe. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been the star of the show so far, he’ll play, while Luke Shaw gets the nod over on the left.
Scott McTominay is starting to establish himself as the go-to man in that holding midfield role. Alongside Paul Pogba, they form the perfect pairing of tenacity, tough-tackling and sheer on-ball class. Angel will play in the #10 role just ahead of these two, thanks to his excellent pressing ability and raw pace.
The quick Marcus Rashford leads the line with the skilful Tahith Chong on one side and the speedster Daniel James on the other. This front three have the talent and directness to hurt any defence in football.
