Manchester United are performing miracles under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the moment. There is a newfound belief and confidence within the squad and it’s truly brilliant to see.
The Red Devils are going from strength-to-strength, but this squad will only take them so far. It’s thin in certain areas and ageing in others. A lack of any real investment during the last summer transfer window killed our season before it got started.
Hopefully, this time around, United have learned from their mistakes. One potential position the club could look at upgrading is right-back, and pundit Danny Murphy has identified one potential transfer target for the club; Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
‘I do think this lad’s that special,’ Murphy said on talkSPORT.
‘I think right now we are blessed in that area. ‘This Wan-Bissaka, unfortunately for Palace fans, maybe they’ll keep him another year, it won’t do him any harm at all playing more games and getting more experience.
‘There’s a gaping hole at Man Utd for a right-back. Ashley Young’s done brilliantly, but he’s 34.
The Englishman has emerged as a real top quality right-back this season and it’s scary that he’s only 21.
God bless Ashley Young, but his best days are behind him and although he will be at the club next season, we seriously need to be thinking about a long-term replacement.
Wan-Bissaka would be perfect for us, although he certainly wouldn’t come cheap, that much is obvious. You’d also have to factor in Diogo Dalot. The young man from Portugal looked outstanding at the weekend and perhaps Solskjaer sees him as the best option going forward.
