Manchester United Football Club are still within touching distance of the top four, following a 2-0 victory over Palace. For their efforts, three Red Devils, including Harry Maguire, were named in the latest BBC TOTW.
Suddenly, seeing United players in these Team of the Weeks is becoming a regular occurrence. It’s one we’re enjoying here at Old Trafford Faithful, I might add.
It has been a simply stunning turnaround of form from that whole dressing room. To a man, it feels like every single player has improved massively since January.
Anyway, this latest TOTW comes from the BBC’s Garth Crooks. He has chosen to include a trio of his United stars in his latest XI, following a pretty uncomfortable 2-0 victory over Palace on Thursday night:
Let’s work our way from the back and start with Harry Maguire. It was recently discovered that the Englishman played on for two months(!) while injured. That’s a true making of the man. Against Palace, he missed a few headers, but his defensive work was excellent.
His strength, leadership qualities and organisation skills ensured the Red Devils kept a hard-fought clean-sheet. Maguire made some key tackles, too.
Bruno Fernandes had a pretty quiet game, though he still left Selhurst Park with an assist and a spot in another TOTW. He probably should have scored midway through the second-half as well. However, he has been a catalyst for this Red Devils team and is more than worthy of his place in this XI.
Finally, we have Marcus Rashford. He was just stupidly-good on Thursday night. For his goal, three Palace players fell for an incredible dummy, while his work for Anthony Martial’s cool strike cannot be understated. He started that move, in his own half by the way, by beating three Palace players. He practically finished it too, with a inch-perfect first-time pass into his French teammate.
Well played, lads!
