Real Madrid and Man United hoping to sort out major deal this week: report

Manchester United, Real Madrid and David de Gea. Three things that us Red Devils hate to see in the same sentence. Anyway, today, we’ve been given another update in the saga that has been ongoing for years and it comes from Spanish media outlet Marca, translated via the Daily Star.

They say that the Spanish giants are ready to splash the cash on a marquee signing this summer, and the man they have identified for that is ‘Big Dave’. Furthermore, they add that a deal could be sorted soon, with both player and club hopeful a deal could be sorted by next week.

The final key part of the report is stating that the main stumbling block at this point in time is Manchester United’s asking price. Although no figure is being mentioned, the Old Trafford club should charge through the roof for one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

I’d be genuinely gutted if De Gea leaves us, but I guess that it has always been on the cards. In my opinion, it comes as no secret that the player does eventually want to move back ‘home’ and you cannot blame him if he wants to move to a side that have won back-to-back Champions League titles.

But, he’s given us some fantastic years of service. We’ve been lucky to watch him ply his trade at Old Trafford for over five years now, and he has won plenty of trophies here. If he does go, we’d have to thank him and let him go fulfil a dream – as hard as it may be.

Then comes the hard bit, how do you replace him!?
