Well, as we all know, football is at a standstill – and will be for at least the next six weeks.
Inevitably, during this time, everyone finds alternative ways to entertain themselves, which is what one football-loving Reddit user has done…
Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we always cover Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Weeks when United stars are included and this fan has taken it to another level.
Reddit user yeskevinlad277 has taken it a step further – working out the BBC’s Team of the Season so far based upon how many times they were included in Crooks’ side. Two United stars feature.
Check out the team in full here:
Now obviously, it’s not a perfect science, as the positions are entirely accurate – but it’s good enough.
Harry Maguire was the first United player included, with Slabhead being picked an impressive six times throughout the campaign so far. In terms of defenders, that’s only bettered by Virgil van Dijk’s seven.
Then you have Bruno Fernandes who is the surprise inclusion. The Portuguese has been picked four times already! To put that into perspective, the 25-year-old has only played five games…
You’d imagine that if Fernandes had been here longer, he may well have been amongst the candidates to win the PFA Player of the Year, though he has some way to go to catch Kevin de Bruyne’s 11 inclusions in Crooks’ teams so far this term…
Team in full with their number of picks:
Van Dijk (7) – Maguire (6) – Cahill (4) – Fernandinho (4)
Grealish (5) – De Bruyne (11) – Bruno Fernandes (4)
Aubameyang (5) – Vardy (5) – Mane (7)
