Manchester United’s summer transfer plans will already be being drawn up by the board at Old Trafford, despite the window not officially opening for another couple of months yet. One man thought to be of high priority is Mats Hummels; the Borussia Dortmund centre-back.
Sky Sports News say that Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in landing the tough-tackling German this summer, who could well be on the move if a suitable offer comes in.
This comes just hours after Hummels himself revealed he is losing sleep about his long-term future as he doesn’t know whether to stay at the Westfalonstadion or not.
At 27, Hummels is approaching the peak of his powers, and there wouldn’t be many defenders more suited to Louis van Gaal’s style of play than the former Munich man. He loves a challenge, can play out from the back and is excellent in the air. However all that would certainly come at a price, and it won’t be easy to prise him out of Dortmund’s grasp.
