Manchester United and Jose Mourinho made four absolutely colossal signings in the summer transfer window, all of which have made a positive impact on the Red Devils’ and their playing squad. However, the work of the manager is nowhere near done, and that could continue in January.
A move for one player they’ve reportedly been eyeing could well be thrown into doubt, though, as Spanish media outlet AS say that James Rodriguez will not be leaving Real Madrid when the January transfer window opens.
It was only a couple of days ago that the Daily Express reported Manchester United would have a free run at signing Rodriguez in January as Chelsea pulled out of any potential deal. Now it looks as though no big-money move for him will be happening anytime soon.
There is absolutely no doubting the talent that the 25-year-old possesses, he just hasn’t featured anywhere near enough at the Santiago Bernabeu to remain happy. Whether that’s down to a lack of effort, or purely better players in front of him in the pecking order remains to be seen.
In my opinion, I’m not sure I’d want Rodriguez at Manchester United at this point in time. Jose Mourinho certainly has a good thing going on at the moment, and personally I’m left puzzled as to where he’d fit into the starting XI.
