Manchester United are a football club with an absolutely absurd amount of money available at their disposal. In the summer, you have to say that Jose Mourinho spent it wisely when he brought in the likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
A club the size of United will always be linked to the biggest of names, because, quite frankly, it sells papers. One man they’ve been heavily linked with recently is Antoine Griezmann, with The Sun going as far as saying that talks regarding his signature have already begun.
But now, the supremely talented Frenchman has hit back in an angry manner. He’s clearly fed up about speculation about his future, and you cannot blame him whatsoever.
“I don’t like this question [surrounding my future],” Griezmann responded angrily to Spanish media outlet AS, with The Mirror translating it to English. “I don’t appreciate these type of questions about my future because players like Cristiano [Ronaldo], [Lionel] Messi or [Gareth] Bale aren’t asked about what is going to happen next year or where they are going to play.”
“That’s why I don’t like it when they ask me either. I’m happy and enjoying myself at Atletico, don’t ask me about my future anymore.”
At the end of the day, you cannot fault him for coming out and telling the media to keep quiet about his future. This is a man who, in my opinion, loves Atletico Madrid and his manager Diego Simeone. The rumours won’t be helping his mindset which directly impacts the way he plays on the field – so you can completely understand his frustration.
That said, he’s a player who I believe would fit in wonderfully well at Manchester United. Will a move happen? I highly doubt it in the January transfer window, but if Simeone decides to leave Atleti in the summer, then who knows…
