Manchester United Football Club will be preparing themselves for the January transfer window, with the mid-season period where clubs can buy and sell players just a couple of days away now. As you’d imagine, there have been plenty of transfer rumours linked to Jose Mourinho’s side.
Perhaps the strongest of links we’ve seen thus far is a proposed move that could see SL Benfica’s Victor Lindelof making his way to Old Trafford, with reputable media outlets like Sky Sports saying that the clubs are in talks about a potential transfer.
Last night, the 22-year-old Swede was weirdly left out of Benfica’s matchday squad to take on Paços de Ferreira as you can see from the tweets directly from SL Benfica’s official Twitter page.

Now, as we all know this really doesn’t mean anything in particular, but it does seem rather odd that a man who has been a regular in the starting XI (let alone the bench) has suddenly been removed from action.
In my opinion, all the talk of a transfer to Manchester United has probably gotten in his head and he cannot concentrate fully. That’s why I think he’s been taken out of the limelight – and rightly so.
That didn’t stop the United fans on social media though, who are convinced that some sort of a deal could well be close…
Lindelof out of the squad surely can't be a coincidence. Perhaps media briefings are metaphorically becoming football pitches themselves.

Hmm. Lindelof was named in Benfica's match day squad but is now not even named on their bench? Something is happening..
