Manchester United’s pressure on the teams above them feels rather relentless right now, with Jose Mourinho’s men on an excellent unbeaten streak. However, we’ve still not moved up the table, and the Red Devils have to keep winning to ensure a top four finish.
Things are certainly moving in the right direction, and our fixture list over the next month or so certainly looks like a kind one on paper. This is the time where the Old Trafford club has to kick on and start cranking up the heat another notch.
United legend Rio Ferdinand reckons Mourinho’s men will finish in the top four, purely based on the current run of form and the momentum they have. Right now, you find it hard to disagree with the English centre-back.
“If you asked me two weeks ago, I’d have said no.”
“The way the results have gone, the form and the run Manchester United are on.” Rio Ferdinand told BT Sport, quoted by the Daily Star.
“They left themselves a lot to do in this 16-game unbeaten run but it’s great to see this momentum.
“That’s the key word at this stage of the season – momentum.
“If you’ve got that in your armoury you’ve got a good chance of climbing the league and gaining a top-four spot.
“I think United will get into there.”
It’s not going to be easy, but if you compare our form to the likes of Arsenal’s and Liverpool’s, we’re definitely in a good place. The gap into the top four is just two points right now, and that can be overcome in one weekend if the results go our way.
I firmly believe we’ll do it. Jose’s tactics seem to be working wonders right now, and the performance at home to Watford at the weekend was a real positive one. The games are coming thick and fast, and the big squad we have at our disposal will help us in that regard.
