Robin van Persie fears for United future after contract talks yet to begin

Manchester United’s star Dutch striker Robin van Persie is worried about his long-term future at the club, after contract talks are yet to take place, according to The Sun. Van Persie, 30, still has eighteen months to run on his current deal, but theres a growing concern he isn’t part of Van Gaal’s long-term plans.

After arriving from Arsenal for £24million two-and-a-half years ago, the Flying Dutchman burst onto the scene with a stunning debut season, leading United to their 20th title.

Since then it hasn’t gone exactly to plan for Robin, after a series of injuries and poor runs of form followed. This year he has eight goals to his name despite not playing anywhere near to his capabilities, and although he has shown flashes of brilliance, something has been missing.

It’d be a real shame if we didn’t offer him a contract to stay at a club which he clearly loves, but many expected him to kick on this year, especially after linking up with Louis van Gaal whom he has an excellent understanding with.
