Rooney Could Face Two Months Out

Wayne Rooney came off the substitutes bench vs. Fulham at the weekend and in the dying embers of the game, he got caught high up on the leg by Hugo Rodallega’s studs. This left Rooney with a six inch gash on his leg and Sir Alex confirmed the striker would be facing a month out of action.

Since then though, the injury is thought to be worse than first feared. When treating him, the doctors discovered that the gash had in fact reached the bone, which means that his muscle tissue has been damaged, meaning Wayne could now face a two month lay-off. This is a bitter blow for both club and country, but you can’t help but think that if this had happened last season we’d struggle massively. However this year things are different.

Obviously it’s better to have Rooney fit than injured, but with RVP’s arrival, we are more than capable of getting by without him. He was dropped to the bench for the Fulham game after a very average performance against his boyhood club Everton. Maybe this injury isn’t the worst thing that could happen, hopefully when he’s fit and ready, he’ll use it to spur him on and come back to the team fighting for his spot in the starting XI. Get well soon, Wayne!
