After almost a week of wondering whether Rooney and RvP will feature against Norwich, Sir Alex finally shed some light on the matter in his pre-match press conference. He also gave us news about other injuries, and it’s a mixed bag of results.
The boss confirmed that Rooney and Evans are both struggling to recover from injury, and the game tomorrow evening may come too soon for the pair. On the other hand Sir Alex is more hopeful about the chances of Robin van Persie starting, he claimed the Dutchman ‘should be fit’ to feature in the starting XI tomorrow.
“We’ve still got some doubts about Wayne and Jonny Evans,” Sir Alex said. “I think Robin should be fit. We’ll see what they are like today but there is a doubt.
Hernandez’s super-sub performance against Villa coupled with the injury to Rooney means that he is likely to start up front against Norwich, if he performs to a similar level to last weekend, he will definitely get chances.
“Bringing on Chicharito [at Villa] was good for us and he should start tomorrow.”
There was better news regarding Phil Jones, the youngster is yet to feature for United this season, and he looks in line to make his return vs. Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday.
“Phil Jones has been training all week. We will take him to Turkey [to play Galatasaray in the Champions League] with us. He’ll get part of it there, which is a good start for him.”
