Manchester United Football Club finds themselves in a sticky situation. The Old Trafford club are already way off the Premier League pace, while things don’t look to be getting any better under Jose Mourinho.
The football is dull, the players look uninspired, the fans are growing increasingly frustrated. After being winless in four, while not really threatening the opposing goal in any of those matches, I’d say they have every right to be upset.
However, one man who thinks Mourinho shouldn’t be sacked at this point in time? Ryan Giggs. The current Wales manager has admitted that his former employers find themselves in a tough position, but they should persist with the 55-year-old.
“I believe he [Mourinho] should keep his job,” said Giggs, per the BBC.
“They’re going through a tough time at the moment, but change now then you’re in the same position in a year, two years, quite possibly.”
“I think the problem of late has been forward planning. Just take stock, they’re going through a tough time but, no, my stance hasn’t changed.”
As Giggsy says, I reckon United don’t plan as much as they should. They’ve gone with three managers in a row who are extremely similar tactics-wise, things didn’t change. It also feels like the signings aren’t all that well-planned, either. They tend to buy the big-name that becomes available and then worrying about where to play them is almost an afterthought.
That’s not the way a club should be run. You’d hope that things will turn around under Mourinho soon, but I’m not convinced. It feels as though the players have stopped performing for him. As soon as that happens, I’m sorry to say it’s curtains and there is absolutely no coming back.
