On the whole, Manchester United Football Club are certainly heading in the right direction under Jose Mourinho.
The self-proclaimed Special One has us winning games on a regular basis, and he’s making signings that are improving the overall outlook of the situation at Old Trafford.
However, one particular addition is worrying Ryan Giggs in relation to Marcus Rashford’s playing time. The Welsh Wizard claims that the Wythenshawe-born-attacker’s best position is up front, but with Romelu Lukaku in the team, Rashford isn’t going to get the minutes he desires; particularly through the middle.
“The main problem for Rashford is his best position is as a striker and it doesn’t look as though he’s going to get in ahead of Lukaku.” Giggs is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
“Ultimately he’s not going to get as many goals over a season as Lukaku.”
Although Giggs’ statement is pretty brutal, it’s honest. Lukaku is a better finisher than Rashford and I simply cannot see that changing anytime soon.
For now, the Mancunian is going to have to settle for minutes as a winger, but following some excellent form from Anthony Martial and the addition of Alexis Sanchez, he may be resigned to the bench more often than he’d like.
That’s football I guess, and it’s up to the young man to impress Mourinho out on the training pitch, then when he gets his opportunity he’ll have to grab it with both hands and then do all he can to make himself undroppable.
