Manchester United’s transformation under Jose Mourinho has already begun. The self-proclaimed Special One clearly has big plans for the Red Devils, and this season has been a good starting point; particularly if the club manage to win the Europa League in just over one week’s time.
Obviously, there is still plenty of work to do for the manager, and it was always going to be a job that’d take longer than one single transfer window to solve. Although he did some brilliant pieces of business, there is still plenty of work to go.
Club legend Ryan Giggs has had his say on the situation, and revealed exactly how many players he thinks his former employers need to bring in. Every single one of the options he mentioned are pretty much correct, and I’d say that all of these guys need replacing this summer.
‘He needs to replace Michael Carrick,’ said the club icon, as per The Metro.
‘[Zlatan] Ibrahimovic is going to be out for a year. I think he needs a centre-forward.’
‘Don’t know what going to happen with Wayne [Rooney].’
‘I think he probably needs four or five players.’
Bringing in an Ibrahimovic replacement simply has to be seen as a top priority. The 35-year-old scored close to thirty goals this season, and is by far and away our top scorer. We need to bring someone in who is capable of filling that huge void left by the influential Swede.
On top of that, Michael Carrick is ageing and Wayne Rooney is just getting worse. These two have been absolute legends for our great football club, and we’d not only have to replace their supreme talents, but also that winning mentality and experience.
I’d also suggest that we’d need another centre-back and possibly another option at both right-back and left-back. Also, if David de Gea decides to leave he’d need replacing too. Good luck, Jose…
