Season over:Former Manchester United man Paddy McNair suffers ligament damage – report

Manchester United’s academy has produced some huge players over the years, with the club always relying on the youngsters from within. One man who played a huge part in Louis van Gaal’s era at Old Trafford was Paddy McNair, who made almost thirty Premier League appearances under the Iron Tulip.

Now, the man from Ballyclare in Northern Ireland has been dealt a cruel turn of fate, after suffering cruciate ligament damage against Hull City on Saturday. His season is now over before his career under David Moyes at Sunderland really got going.

What a shame. He’s just 21, and it really will knock his confidence quite dramatically. Watching his teammates from the sidelines must be painful, and knowing that he has such a long road ahead will be hard to take.

It’s up to McNair to keep working hard, undergo rehab in a serious manner and get himself back ready for the start of next season.

Get well soon Paddy!
