What a whirlwind of a season it has been for Marcus Rashford, and it isn’t quite over yet. The young man has been included in Roy Hodgson’s final 23-man squad that will take part in the European Championships this summer.
Just when you thought praise for the 18-year old couldn’t get any higher, one of the best midfielders on the planet has given Rashford his backing; Clarence Seedorf.
The AC Milan legend reckons that Marcus Rashford could be a massive surprise out in France, as long as he copes with the pressure.
“You need to slow it down, you should not be adding pressure (on Rashford). If he can just be used without pressure I think he’s going to be a surprise. He’s a very talented guy.” Seedorf said.
Honestly, unless there are an influx of serious injuries up front, then I reckon Rashford will be limited to minutes from off of the bench. If that’s the case then he’ll have to do an awful lot to force his way into Roy Hodgson’s starting line-up. Given the season he’s had, though, you wouldn’t rule it out.
The experience alone will be wonderful for such a young man. I’d much prefer to see the manager pick youth and let him sit on the bench and enjoy the tournament, rather than taking someone like Defoe who’d sit on the bench and learn precisely nothing.
