Serie A giants slap £40m price-tag on reported Man United transfer target: report

Manchester United Football Club have defensive issues, that has been blatantly obvious all season.

Jose Mourinho tried his utmost to bring in new centre-backs over the summer, but for Edward Woodward’s ‘better’ judgement.

One player United are looking at is Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic. Now, the Serie A side have slapped a £40million price tag on the 21-year-old, according to The Sun, per the Daily Mail.

Apparently, at this point United are only willing to spend £30million on the Serbia man who Mourinho apparently watched during the latest international break…

The Red Devils just need upgrades on both centre-back slots. I like Chris Smalling as a squad player, but aside from him, that area of the field is an absolute mess.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but I’d much prefer to see the club go after experience. They need a leader, a commander, someone who can take the other players by the scruff of their necks and get them in the right spots. Toby Alderweireld would be my dream choice as he is Premier League proven.

As for Milenkovic, I’d love to see him play regularly for Fiorentina over the next few years before United even consider making a move for him. At 21, he’s just far too young.
