Seven Man United stars considering leaving Old Trafford this summer: report

Manchester United may have secured Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long-term future at the club, although doubts still remain about several players.

That’s according to The Sunday Times, who say that both Paul Pogba and David de Gea are planning to leave Old Trafford, leading a seven-strong group who are considering their futures in Manchester.

It’s no surprise to learn that the main reason behind their planned exits is due to the fact United are struggling to qualify for next season’s Champions League…

The other five players who may decide to depart include Romelu Lukaku, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Eric Bailly and Alexis Sanchez.

I understand the first four. Sanchez has struggled here from day one, while minutes for Eric Bailly seem extremely hard to come by. Then you have both Herrera and Mata who are out of contract so the ball is firmly in their court.

Lukaku puzzles me, though. He’s only into his second season at the club and under Solskjaer he is playing brilliantly. Why would he want to go? Who does he think would take him at this point in time? Plus, there’s no way United would sell given the fact that he still has several years remaining on his deal.

One thing is for certain, though, this is a worrying trend. Our top stars don’t want to play for a struggling club and you cannot really blame them for that…
