Manchester United are reportedly close to completing their first transfer of the summer, as Renato Sanches’ move to Old Trafford nears. However the Daily Star say that the club have called upon the services of a certain Sir Alex Ferguson to help push it over the line.
The aforementioned media outlet say that Sir Alex is a huge admirer of Sanches, and he has personally recommended that Manchester United do sign the 18-year old this summer.
Fergie, who stepped down as manager three years ago still has plenty of influence at the Theatre of Dreams in his role as an official ambassador, and Edward Woodward and company are clearly trying their best to get this move over the line.
There is always a risk when investing in youngsters like Sanches, who at this time is pure talent rather than anywhere near the finished article. However after the success of Anthony Martial, the men with the money at United probably wouldn’t think twice if they think Sanches could have the same impact.
