Sky Italy: Man United make £54m bid for 23-year-old centre-back

Seemingly, Manchester United’s top transfer priority is to bring in a new centre-back to help shore up the defence.

Over the summer, Edward Woodward let Jose Mourinho down in that regard, but that hasn’t stopped the club being linked to almost a new name weekly.

Today, reports in Italy from Tuttomercatoweb are claiming that the Red Devils have turned their attention to Inter Milan centre-back, Milan Skriniar, with United making a £54million bid for the 23-year-old.

The Slovakian has emerged as a huge talent over the last few months, proving that age is just a number as the maturity with which he plays far outweighs his years.

In the modern-day game, £54million isn’t a huge transfer fee for a man who could potentially become one of the best centre-halves in the world, but as is always the case, there is a risk involved when you’re buying from another league.

You never really know how the player is going to adapt, and although in Skriniar’s case it looks as though he’d be perfect for the Premier League, it doesn’t always pan out that way.

With that said, I think it’s a risk worth taking as he’d complement Victor Lindelof wonderfully.
