Sky: Man United end Dybala interest, Reds not convinced in his desire to play for them

Well, it was fun while it lasted, but it seems as though Paulo Dybala will not be wearing Manchester United colours next season.

According to Sky Sports News (and others), United have ended their interest in the 25-year-old Argentine. Apparently, the club are not convinced that the player’s desire to play for the club is what it should be.

Dybala was central to a swap deal that was seeing Romelu Lukaku head the other way, though doubts over his willingness to move to Old Trafford, while making excessive wage demands, has led to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explore other options.

Sky say that this will ‘likely’ end the proposed swap deal that would send Lukaku to Turin, though we’ll probably learn more about that over the next 24 hours or so…

First and foremost, it hurts that Dybala will not be joining us but you have to applaud Solskjaer and United for playing this smartly. Too many times this club has been burnt by going for the stellar name and paying them ridiculous wages, rather than finding players who actually want to give their all for the famous Red Devils badge on their chest.

Dybala is a classy player, no doubt. He’ll likely have a top drawer season with the Serie A giants next season, too, but if he doesn’t want to be here that’s fine. I do worry about Lukaku, though. Hopefully, they can include another player in some sort of cash-plus-player swap move…
