Manchester United have actually been pretty good when it comes to goalkeepers recently.
David de Gea has been regarded as the best in the business, while in Dean Henderson the club have a mega-talented up-and-comer on their books.
Henderson’s future for the 2019/20 campaign has been unclear; until now. According to Sky Sports News, the 22-year-old starlet is set for a Premier League loan move, as he’ll return to Sheffield United for another season.
Apparently, the move is set to be confirmed by the end of the week, and to me it always looked likely as Henderson didn’t head out on pre-season tour with the rest of the first-team squad.
After earning back-to-back promotions from League One and the Championship with Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United respectively, the time is now for Henderson to test himself against the very best the Premier League has to offer.
From a Red Devils standpoint, this will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ample opportunity to gauge whether Henderson has what it takes to succeed at the level, while the budding shot-stopper will be looking to keep his Blades in the division.
He’s already a cult hero with Sheffield United fans and if he enjoys another good season there, his stock will only skyrocket. Hopefully, United can tie him down to a new long-term contract first.
