Earlier today, we covered a story from The Telegraph which claimed that Daniel James will become Manchester United’s first summer signing – before adding that the 21-year-old will have his medical today.
Shortly after the initial news broke, Sky Sports gave us a further update. The reliable British media outlet backed up the story that James will have his medical today – and they gave us more information on the transfer fee for the Wales international.
Sky claim that the initial fee for James stands at £15million, although there is an extra £3million available in add-ons. Personal terms have already been agreed so all being well, it shouldn’t take too long for the Reds to get an official announcement done.
James isn’t a stellar, household name, but I’m pleased that’s the case. This club has to get away from bringing marquee players in. Instead, focusing on signing youngsters as that is what has worked so well for them in the past.
The 21-year-old is quick and he’s a great finisher. As he begins to play with better players around him, you’d imagine the youngster is only going to get better.
Hopefully, the deal is wrapped up quickly and we see that photo of James holding up the United shirt in the not too distant future.
