Sky Sports: Man United interested in signing West Ham attacker, would cost £50million

Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham United attacker, Marko Arnautovic.

That’s according to Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol, although David Moyes’ side insists the Austrian isn’t for sale and would cost in excess of £50million.

The 29-year-old had an excellent debut campaign for The Hammers, scoring eleven Premier League goals, guiding his team to safety in England’s top flight. In 2018, he’s also scored three goals for his country – in just two outings, although he won’t be heading to the World Cup.

In terms of Jose Mourinho signings, this is exactly what comes to mind. Experienced, physical, powerful and explosive. Arnautovic is Premier League proven and versatile, and when confident and in full-flow, he’s proven what a threat he can be.

With that said, I’d personally be put off for the £50million price-tag. That’s a lot of money for a player who has shown inconsistency throughout his professional career. He’ll go through phases of brilliance, but there will also be times where he’ll struggle immensely.

This would be somewhat underwhelming. Largely because he isn’t that flashy footballer that a club like United usually go for. It’d somewhat remind me of the move for Marouane Fellaini – and look how that turned out.
