It looks as though Manchester United are about to seal their first signing of the summer. The man in question is Victor Lindelof of SL Benfica, and Sky Sports News are claiming that the clubs have agreed on a fee that’ll see the 22-year-old make the move to Old Trafford.
The English media outlet claims United will be paying £30.7million to the Portuguese side for the services of the man they call the ‘Ice Man’.
Lindelof is yet to agree personal terms with the Red Devils, but it certainly looks like the centre-back will be Jose Mourinho’s first major bit of business following a successful first season in charge.
It has always felt like the self-proclaimed Special One has been on the hunt for a new centre-back, in fact, United were linked with a move to bring in Lindelof back in January, but for whatever reason, the club didn’t pursue a move.
But, after watching some rather poor displays from both Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, coupled with a serious-looking injury to Marcos Rojo, it has always felt like we’d need to bring in a new defender at some point. Lindelof is seemingly the man Mourinho has turned to.
To be brutally honest, I’ve never watched him play but you have to trust the judgement of our manager. We were saying exactly the same things about Eric Bailly last year, and he was insanely good throughout his first twelve months as a Red Devil.
