Sky Sports: Manchester United interested in signing £33million-rated midfielder

Manchester United are interested in signing Nice midfielder, Jean Michael Seri, according to Sky Sports News.

Apparently, the in-demand midfielder is being tracked by a whole host of clubs, and he has a release clause of £33million in his contract – which expires at the end of next season.

Seri has been amongst Nice’s top performers this season, having registered six assists and one goal in 26 league appearances, helping his side to sixth in the table.

Honestly, I’m not surprised that United are interested. Michael Carrick will hang up his boots come the summer whereas Marouane Fellaini is yet to sign a new contract. The Red Devils will need at least one new central midfielder, and £33million for a top-class player is a relatively cheap outlay in the modern game.

At 26, Seri is experienced enough, yet young enough to play an integral part at Manchester United for at least five years. It’s a move I’d love to happen, mainly to give Paul Pogba that extra freedom when going forward. However, it’s going to be tough to acquire him because no doubt many top European clubs will also be backing up their interest with a bid when the summer rolls around.
