Manchester United have rejected reports suggesting that Jose Mourinho will lose his job this weekend; whatever the result. That’s per Sky Sports News.
Late last night, rumours from The Daily Mirror claimed that the self-proclaimed Special One was set to be sacked following the Newcastle United match, but evidently, that isn’t the case.
He clearly still has the board’s full-backing, which is key in these situations. However, the eye test tells you that Mourinho has already lost some sections of the dressing room; which could well ultimately prove to be his downfall.
I just find it immensely frustrating that these leaks are coming out of the club. It helps absolutely nobody. Why not just let Mourinho manage? Why not just let those players do what they do best?
At this point in time I’m just not sure who United could go and get to turn this situation around. If the third-best manager in Premier League history can’t do it, what makes you think a Zinedine Zidane, who has never managed in England will be good enough?
As Gary Neville so passionately puts it, the problems at this club run far deeper than the manager. I fear that could lead to us being out of contention for a good few years yet…
