Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rules Eric Bailly out of West Ham game with injury

Manchester United fans have been waiting for news from the manager since the nasty-looking head collision. Now, we’ve been offered an Eric Bailly injury update from the Baby Faced Assassin…

Unfortunately, it’s bad news. Earlier this morning, we covered a story from the Daily Mail, in which it was claimed that the Ivorian was unlikely to feature against The Hammers.

Now that belief has been reaffirmed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who ruled out the United star due to the head problem, while remaining tight-lipped on when we could expect to see Bailly back in the mix.

“I don’t think he’ll be ready for this game. I’ve not seen him this morning yet, this is before we meet the players. I think everyone is available apart from that, no other injuries from last week.” Solskjaer told reporters, including The Independent.

When will we see him again…?

I think it’s fair to say that the centre-half looked in good spirits upon his return to Carrington yesterday, So I would guess that it’s not an injury that’ll keep him sidelined for too long. My best estimation is that he’ll feature upon the resumption of the Europa League next month.

It’s a shame because Bailly just cannot catch a break. It’s easy to forget just how spectacular he was during his debut season back in 2017/18. Since then, he’s spent far too much time on the sidelines.

Fortunately, this problem isn’t a muscular injury so his body will be feeling good. It’s just that Premier League have rules in place in regards to concussion. It’s not something to be taken lightly.

Luke Shaw ready to return?

There was some better news, though. Solskjaer hinted that ‘everyone is available’ apart from Bailly, meaning Luke Shaw may well be ready to come back into the starting line-up.

Fortunately, it seems as though his ankle injury wasn’t as serious as initially thought and he’ll be ready to make his first-team return tomorrow night at Old Trafford.
