Solskjaer concerned over Man United’s player fitness: report

For Manchester United, today’s presents a mammoth task; they have to go to FC Barcelona and win…

About a month or go I think it’s fair to say we’d be feeling far more confident going into this game. The results were good and the players were performing better than we’d seen in comparison to the two seasons previous. However, there has been a real drop-off in form over the last few weeks as United have won just two from their last six.

Now, according to The Independent, it is being claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is concerned over the fitness of his United squad and that’s something he’s going to try and address in the summer.

Solskjaer believes it’s down to a loss of energy due to the fact that the players aren’t meeting the physical demands of this new high-intensity system that the Red Devils play – and the gaffer has every right to be worried, we’re talking about the best of the best and the least they should be able to do is keep up those all-important energy levels…

I get that some of our recent losses have been to the likes of FC Barcelona and Arsenal, but the manner in which we’ve played hasn’t been promising at all. You look at the two victories against West Ham and Watford and even those weren’t particularly impressive.

It’s great to see Solskjaer realise the problem and hopefully, he can address that with a real effect during pre-season.
