Manchester United Football Club have themselves a shiny new signing, with Bruno Fernandes adding to the squad before the January window slams shut later today.
The Red Devils fans are absolutely buzzing to have landed their man, with the Portuguese midfielder moving to Old Trafford after a stellar last eighteen months with Sporting Lisbon. Interest started last summer, though it’s fair to say United became even keener after injuries decimated the squad.
Attentions now turn to a potential Bruno Fernandes debut vs Wolves. Ahead of the clash, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked the all-important question during his pre-match press conference…
The good news is that Solskjaer confirmed his new midfielder will be involved against Wolves, though it did sound to me like it’d probably be as a substitute…
“He’s fit enough to play and he’ll be involved definitely,” Ole told reporters including ManUtd.com.
“He’ll be in the squad. Let’s get the training out of the way today.
“He’s had of course a few hectic days now and even with his little daughter’s three-year birthday yesterday, so I don’t know how much he will be involved, but he’s in the squad.”
The last thing United need is to overwork a player who has only just arrived. Fernandes has definitely had a whirlwind few days and let’s not forget he did play on Tuesday.
Imagine if he starts this game, gets injured or struggles because he’s not fully there physically or mentally? For me, it makes sense to ease him in and the only real reason that there’s talk of a full debut is due to the fact that our squad is looking so thin.
Although I don’t doubt fans will be in uproar when the team news is announced at 4:30 pm tomorrow afternoon, in regards to the bigger picture, it does make sense to gradually ease him in… Either way, we’re going to see a Bruno Fernandes debut vs Wolves!
