Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been working with one hand tied behind his back for the season’s majority.
Injuries have completely decimated and derailed the squad throughout the campaign, with several important players missing prolonged periods of action.
However this morning, Solskjaer has confirmed a key double injury boost, as a duo are set to return to the squad for United’s warm-weather training camp in Marbella.
The Baby Faced Assassin confirmed the news this morning, with both Scott McTominay and Axel Tuanzebe set to jet out with the rest of the squad, while remaining hopeful that the pair can join in on the training sessions.
“Hopefully he can join in the training sessions and Axel as well, he’ll join in, so that’s two positives and it’s a good chance for them to use this time with the players.”
Tuanzebe has barely played this term after being sidelined with a hamstring problem that has taken far longer than expected to recover from. It was a shame because at the time, the United academy graduate was putting in some brilliant performances at both centre-back and left-back.
As for McTominay, his importance simply cannot be understated. Before he went down on Boxing Day, I had the Scotland international as the early frontrunner to win United’s Player of the Year Award.
At the very least, this gives Solskjaer an extra option in two positions where we’re looking very light. When you couple their with the additions of Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo, suddenly, we’re in a much better spot.
Hopefully, these guys can get themselves out on the field sooner rather than later. I personally can’t wait to get McTominay back as I really believe he’ll help Fernandes flourish.
