Solskjaer confirms Pogba, McTominay, not fit to take on Sheffield United

Manchester United finally return to action this weekend (hurrah!) as the Red Devils take on Sheffield United.

Chris Wilder’s side deserve huge credit for the fine form they’ve been in on their return to the Premier League, and make no mistake about it, this one won’t be easy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to get his tactics absolutely spot on, though before the game, the Baby Faced Assassin has confirmed a double injury blow – as two key faces aren’t fit to take on The Blades in the Steel City.

Both Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba will be out for a ‘little while’ still, according to Solskjaer. We may well see the former against Tottenham Hotspur in two weeks’ time, though no timeframe whatsoever was placed on the mercurial Frenchman…

“Scott will be out for a little while, still,” Ole is quoted as saying by ManUtd.com“He has not been training with us, he is still recovering and, hopefully, we can see him, maybe, around the time of Tottenham or [Manchester] City [next month]. We don’t know yet. he heals quickly, Scotty, but he is not going to be ready for Sheffield United or Astana, definitely. Probably not [Aston] Villa either.

”Paul is improving. obviously, he has been out and, when you are in a cast for that long, you do lose your muscle, so gradually you have to step it up. He has not started on his football work yet so it will still be a little while before we see him.“

Midfield was the key issue going into the season, and when you lose two of your three starters in that area of the field, well, it only spells disaster.

Nemanja Matic is another who’s currently touch-and-go as to whether he’ll be fit. I’ve got no idea who’s going to play in that holding midfield role, while both Andreas Pereira and Fred look nailed on to play.

Hopefully, both Pogba and McTominay can get themselves fit before the hectic winter period, but right now I’m not holding my breath about the United #6.

As for Solskjaer, well, his job just got made all-the-harder…
