Solskjaer confirms Victor Lindelof will miss Partizan game through injury

Manchester United are in a bit of a funk. Despite a three-game winning streak, the Reds got back to losing ways against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday – and it’s fair to say it left a sour taste in the mouth.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t want to make excuses, though he is well within his rights to point towards injuries as a real problem.

Tomorrow night, Partizan Belgrade visit Old Trafford in a Europa League clash, and before the game, Solskjaer has confirmed an injury blow, with 25-year-old centre-back Victor Lindelof set to miss out. The Baby Faced Assassin also didn’t seem convinced about the Ice Man’s availability for the weekend…

“No, Victor is out, so he won’t be available,” Ole told MUTV, via ManUtd.com.

“Hopefully he can make the weekend but I’m not sure.”

Centre-back was one of the areas in which United strengthened the squad over the summer. However, Harry Maguire aside, our defence has been struggling with the injury bug more than any other position.

Eric Bailly suffered a major problem while on pre-season tour. He’s still out. Axel Tuanzebe is currently sidelined with an issue, too. Marcos Rojo is coming back but he’s hardly reliable and the same can be said about Phil Jones…

This makes you wonder whether letting Chris Smalling head to AS Roma on loan was a mistake. Heck, it certainly feels like that right now – particularly due to the brilliant form he’s in.

I guess the good news is that the Lindelof injury doesn’t seem too serious and he should be back fairly soon. I’m just not sure who fills in over the next two games, maybe more…
