Somewhat remarkably, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now won Manchester United more points than Jose Mourinho this season.
Given he’s only been in charge for nine fixtures, that’s rather sensational. United’s 3-0 victory away at Fulham today was a comfortable one. Now, all eyes will be on Old Trafford, which plays host to a huge encounter against Paris Saint-Germain this coming Tuesday.
Before today’s outing, there were a couple of noteable absentees. Marcus Rashford was set on the bench, while Victor Lindelof didn’t even travel. Now, the Baby Faced Assassin has unveiled why…
“There are a couple of niggles,” Solskjaer told MUTV. “Rashy got a dead leg against Leicester that he’s struggled with all week, so we don’t want to risk him. At the back, we’ve got a few changes. Victor is out, not a really a concern, he should be okay for Tuesday.
It’s great to hear that Lindelof should be ready to go for the game on Tuesday as I don’t think it’s an understatement to say that the Ice Man has been our best centre-back this season.
As for Rashford, he deserves a rest, particularly if he’s carrying a little knock or problem. There is no reason to risk him when you’ve got some huge fixtures coming up. We’re going to need the Mancunian at his brilliant best and if there was any game you’d want him to get a break in, you’d pick this one.
Thankfully, the lads that were called upon got the job done and it gives these two time to rest up and recuperate.
