For Manchester United, it has largely been plain sailing. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has certainly steadied the ship and got the Red Devils heading in the right direction again.
Adversity was always going to show itself eventually, though. Right now, United have been hit by a huge injury problem with several players set to be missing for their game against Crystal Palace tomorrow night.
The attacking area has been absolutely decimated with problems, although there are still two senior figures left standing. Solskjaer has now called upon these guys to ‘step up’ and prove that they deserve to wear the Red jersey.
“The two of them are good mates and they link up well together.” Solskjaer is quoted as saying by ManUtd.com. “So this might be a chance for them to find some form and give us a selection headache when everyone is fit again. Hopefully Alexis and Rom can step up.”
These are two seasoned professionals who know how to succeed in the Premier League. It wasn’t that long ago when Sanchez was amongst the best players in the country. Against Liverpool, he showed that fight and desire which it’ll take to get back to that level.
As for Lukaku, we know he can score goals when confident and given the opportunity to prove his worth as the main striker. Make no mistake, that time he spent on the substitutes bench watching Marcus Rashford succeed will spur him on to win his place back.
If the big Belgian can score a goal or two tomorrow night, don’t be surprised to see him start hitting the back of the net on a more consistent basis once again.
