It comes as no secret that Manchester United are in the market to sign a new striker, with Jose Mourinho looking to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goals. Now, The Gambling Times say that striker Alvaro Morata is trying to force through a move to Old Trafford.
The report is written by the excellent Graeme Bailey, who goes on to add that the 24-year-old Spaniard has told friends and teammates he wants to seal a deal to the Theatre of Dreams.
Bailey adds that the two clubs hadn’t agreed upon a fee and their valuations were some way apart, but now Morata is trying his best to force a move through – and he wants to be a part of the pre-season tour which starts on Sunday.
Finally, the report adds that sources in both England and Spain believe a deal will be done, it is purely just a matter of time.
Last year, Morata scored 20 goals across all competitions. In my opinion, that’s a mightily impressive total given the fact that he was used rather sparingly for the most part.
Sitting on the bench must have been frustrating because he knows he’s just wasting his talent, and although he’s winning trophies aplenty at the Santiago Bernabeu, it’s obvious he wants to be out on the field more often.
A move to United would definitely give him a huge increase in playing time, and we’d be getting an excellent striker whereas Madrid would be getting a hefty transfer fee. It seems like a deal that is beneficial to everyone involved.
