Manchester United Football Club have been playing well of late, with Jose Mourinho’s men still fighting for glory in four competitions. The first-team are certainly improving, and the gaffer has even given debuts to both Axel Tuanzebe and Joel Pereira over the weekend.
You get the feeling that Jose Mourinho has become more willing to experiment with young players, but one man who won’t be getting a chance anytime soon is Tahith Chong.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 17-year-old Dutchman has suffered a ‘serious’ injury and is set for a rather lengthy spell on the sidelines, which is hugely disappointing for the midfielder.
“Tahith has sustained quite a serious knee injury, unfortunately, but he’s a fantastic lad, a big talent and a good character,” The MEN quote United’s youth boss Kieran McKenna as saying.
“We wish him all the best and have no doubt he’ll come back stronger and better than ever.”
Manchester United only signed Chong in the summer, as he made the move from Feyenoord to Old Trafford – despite being chased by a whole host of clubs across Europe.
The young lad had been at the heart of Manchester United’s youth side this season and has scored a few cracking goals throughout his fledgeling career with the Red Devils, and it is a bitter blow to lose him.
It’s now up to the player and his coaching staff to help him stay mentally strong throughout the difficult time, and help him come back better than ever.
Get well soon, Tahith.
