Manchester United’s transfer window seems to be hotting up again, and the latest report comes from the Telegraph, who say that Anders Lindegaard is set to join West Brom on a free transfer before tomorrow’s 6pm transfer deadline.
Manchester United have had a few days away from competitive action, as they prepare to take on Cambridge United in the FA Cup fourth round this Friday night. Today they were at a promotional event with Chevrolet, whre a whole host of first-team players featured, and met a few lucky fans who were able to ask them questions.
Manchester United are on the verge of sealing a deal for ex-Barcelona man Victor Valdes, so there is obviously going to be some room for manoeuvre regarding outgoing shot-stoppers. According to The Independent, Louis van Gaal is ready to let two keepers go in this transfer window.
Manchester United fans watched David de Gea grow into one of the best keepers in the world over the past two years, with Anders Lindegaard rarely used, until it was time for domestic cup action. However with David de Gea’s finger injury, Anders will get his chance to shine on the biggest stage, according to The Telegraph.
Anders Lindegaard has today put pen to paper on a new four-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2016. The 28-year old signed for us for £3million in January last year, he really came into his own last season, putting in some impressive performances.
Anders Lindegaard came in for a lot of slack when he joined Manchester United 18 months ago, but since then he’s certainly silenced a lot of his doubters when called upon. The Dane claims he’s over his injury problems and he’s fit and ready for the start of the season.
I am sure we are eagerly awaiting the restart of the Barclays Premier League on August 18th, not to mention watching United playing in their pre-season tour of South Africa, Asia, and Norway. However, until then, we have to make do with whatever football we can, and what better way than keeping an eye on the United stars currently taking part in Euro 2012 over in Poland and Ukraine. I was recently flicking through our team and it got me thinking, If we were to lift the Premier League trophy this year, which players would miss out on a medal. To be eligible for a medal you need to make ten appearances throughout the league season.
The battle for the Manchester United number one jersey is an intriguing one, I wonder if even the great Sir Alex Ferguson knows who his first choice keeper is? Personally I’m unsure as to whether he does.
