The midfielder looked to have beaten the condition after he achieved a good period of sustained health, but the club insist he was always going to undergo surgery.
After a handful of games for the U21s this term, we receive the shock news that Darren Fletcher is back in the match day squad for the game tomorrow, as well as being back in the mix for selection ahead of a busy winter period. The news comes as a real boost as the Champions League group stages starting next midweek.
A Manchester United XI take on Aberdeen in a Neil Simpson benefit game tonight. The game features ex-reds as well as players from the current squad, amongst those include former striker Dwight Yorke. The biggest surprise though, was Darren Fletcher named as a substitute.
