Manchester United won their first Premier League fixture in three attempts on Sunday afternoon, as they demolished Sunderland 3-0 without really getting out of first gear. It was also a game in which Luke Shaw was handed a rare chance to impress the manager.
Football really is a funny old game. Luke Shaw was handed a start under Jose Mourinho for the first time following the international break and some pretty heavy criticism from the manager. However, the 21-year-old handled the pressure excellently and put in a real pleasing performance.
